Postoperative Instructions
KEEP IT DRY | The bandages should be kept dry and clean. Do not change the bandages at home. |
KEEP IT UP | When resting, keep the foot up, at the same height as your waist (or when sitting you may rest your foot on a chair, small table or pillows). It is not necessary to stay in bed. |
KEEP IT ICED | Place an ice pack over the bandages for at least the first two days. You may use ice in a sealed plastic bag, like a zip-lock bag. Change the ice 3 to 4 times a day. The ice pack can bekept on the foot by using a large rubber band or tape. You may not feel the ice through the bandages but it’s working! |
KEEP IT SHORT | For the first two days walk for only short distances wearing your surgical shoes. It is not necessary to wear these shoes when resting or sleeping. These shoes should be worn for about two weeks. |
KEEP IT CLEAN | A suggestion on how to take a bath:

KEEP COMFY | Take the prescribed medications as directed on the bottle. Remember you are not sick,so bathe, get dressed and eat normal meals. This will make you heal faster and feel better. |
